"The first time I ever paddled out to Mavericks I was 18; that day later became known as 100ft wednesday. It was a cold and foggy morning and the waves were 15 to 20 feet. We noticed the horizon going black. We all scratched for our lives as a 45ft wall of water stood up in front of us.
