The Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC) was formed as a long-term response to the Angora Fire and the lasting effects the disaster will have on the survivors and the community. The group was formed on August 28th, 2007 and is comprised of faith-based and community leaders throughout the South Lake Tahoe area. The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, such as tax exemptions to organization that qualify under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The specific purpose of the corporation is to acquire and distribute public and private donations along with grants to provide short-term emergency assistance, longer-term aid, information, and other resources to residents of South Lake Tahoe displaced by a disaster to ensure such residents have the basic necessities such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors based on the individual victim¹s needs and available resources. It is the mission of the corporation to distribute donations in a fair and equitable manner and to facilitate the restoration, rebuilding, reestablishment and improvement of the lives and neighborhoods impacted by the disaster. They will help coordinate resettling of such residents¹ into safe homes, returning them to work, school and other normal activities in hope to restore a healthy quality of life and a rebuilding of the community that was destroyed.
When we first heard about the Angora Fire and what the CDRC was doing, we knew instantly we needed to get involved in some way or another, and thus, the idea of the IM project was born. We decided that instead of just recycling or using/creating environmentally safe products we need to impact people and the world on a more personal level. The IM Project is an ongoing effort to promte sustainable living, and to provide aid to specific individuals and communities in need.
Although we were not directly affected by the Angora Fire, we hold a strong connection with our team riders, reps, and friends that live in the Lake Tahoe region, and feel an obligation as a company to do more than just make a profit. Imperial Motion, CDRC and the people of Tahoe have teamed up to help restore the the Tahoe Basin and provide victims with living essentials such as, food, water, clothing, and shelter.
